Zoom Enhance: Upscale Images On PC Offline!!!

Television shows often show pictures getting enhanced. Today I’ll show you how you can use free software to enhance blurry photographs—just like you’re on an SSALTW mission. Even better, this software is completely free and finally WORKS OFFLINE! No cloud needed.

Thankfully, you don’t need any ridiculous command line tools, dependencies, or weird versions of Linux. The site https://upscayl.org/ provides a nice offline copy, with the download button right at the top. After installing the application, open it and click Select Image. This will open the file picker so you can choose the picture you want to enhance.

Depending on the type of image, you’ll want to choose a different model. Digital Art is for drawings, cartoons, bad logos, vector art, or a screengrab from your favorite 80s cartoon. For regular photos, I normally use Standard or Lite.

After selecting your model, you can choose how many times you want it to be enhanced. I don’t like to go past 4x or 6x, since it starts to look too “AI” and over-upscaled. You can also use Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to import an image directly from the web. Just make sure you select your output folder first, so you know where your enhanced image will be saved. Here’s an example of my old logo using the Lite model with a 2x upscale:
