How to Build the Ultimate High School Election Website with Strawpage

0
High school election season is coming up, and what better way to celebrate the two things I like most: tech and high school elections. Having a webpage and a hub for your platform is KEY in the modren High SChool Election  world. When I first saw this website, I was so excited. Finally, we harken back to the early days of the web, when everyone had their own corner of the internet instead of a social media hub. It merges mobile simplicity with the retro-futuristic 'computer' aesthetics of the 90s. This website is called Strawpage, and it is a website that allows you to create websites from a template, or you can use your own. For this example, the best template is the 'get your rockstar' template.

ssaltw.straw.page

Access it by scrolling until you see this image. Then click the button that says Use this. This template is the best because it has a school aesthetic with the notepads and the background. However, unless this is a Mean Girls election, the pink has to go—so delete the pink card and the TV by clicking the item and clicking the delete icon at the bottom of the screen.

Next, replace the image of the black thing with a campaign image by clicking the image and clicking the 'image' button. This will bring up your internal files, and you can then upload your image. To resize or rotate it, look at the bottom of the screen to do so. You can add special effects to your image (3D, flicker, etc.) by clicking the 'fun' icon, which will add special effects to the image. Continue this method to add in images/gifs around the screen to make the webpage yours.

In the box where it says 'about me', click the original text and use the 'classic editor' to type out your campaign message and platform. Use the other boxes to type out your cabinet/ticket appointments and endorsements from first clubs and grades. Of course, if you want to see how you are polling in the election, make sure to use the High School Election Simulator software, free of charge. To change the colors of the titles, click the boxes and click the color icon. Then type in plain English the color you want, OR you can use a HEX code to be more specific.

Upload your favorite songs to the music wall by clicking on them and using the Spotify icon and typing in the song you want (it has to be on Spotify). Next, use the hamburger menu to click Pages and create a new page. You will post your next updates here—official statements, memes, campaign posters, etc. The page will be blank, so you will have to use the + button to add anything you want. Be sure to select the amount of grid boxes you want your image/text to take up, because if you don’t, you will have to redo it. Make sure you click the save icon before navigating back to the main page or your work will be deleted. It will have you create an account and name the site, and then you can get back to work.

Finally, when you navigate back, create a button and link it to the page you made. Click the 'link' icon and select your page. You can use the buttons and links multiple times and place them on the gate, and you can use this to link to a campaign video, official statements, investigations from your team, social media pages, etc. Finally, at the bottom of the page, there is an input/drawing/suggestion box. At the top, click the ticker and type 'Suggestions' or something analogous to that.

God bless you, and may God bless your election. Tech talk to you later!!
