July 11, 2025 — Samsung Electronics has expanded its Tizen OS Licensing Program, forging new partnerships with global television brands and original design manufacturers (ODMs) in a move to strengthen its position in the smart TV operating system market.
The latest expansion follows the launch of Tizen OS 8.0 and brings the platform to a wider array of devices through partnerships with ODMs and TV brands across key global markets. New licensees include EKO and QBELL (Ayonz) in Australia and Europe, RCA (Grupo Kayve) in Mexico, RCA (Treasure Creek) in the U.S. and Canada, and Axdia in Germany. Samsung stated that more brands are expected to join in the second half of 2025.
Samsung emphasized that these partnerships aim to provide high-quality products backed by comprehensive technical and marketing support. The company says the Tizen OS platform is positioned as a reliable and adaptable system for modern smart TV demands.
> “Partnering with Samsung on Tizen OS allows us to deliver high-quality and competitive smart TV solutions to our global brand customers,” said Gerard Louis, COO at Axdia.
Samsung also highlighted recent innovations within the Tizen OS platform, including features such as advanced content discovery, Samsung TV Plus integration for FAST channels, cloud gaming via Samsung Gaming Hub, and multi-device connectivity through SmartThings.
To support its partners, Samsung is offering region-specific marketing kits and digital content toolkits. These are designed to help manufacturers emphasize product strengths such as fast performance, premium content access, and smart home integration. Jooyoung Kim, Vice President at Samsung Electronics, underscored the company’s strategy:
> “This year, we are focused on expanding our licensing program and creating diverse collaboration strategies for our key partners. By offering expanded regional support, an enriched app ecosystem, and tailored marketing resources, we aim to deliver even greater value to consumers worldwide.”
Samsung’s licensing program allows manufacturers to access not only Tizen’s software platform but also Samsung’s R&D resources. This is part of a broader strategy to expand Samsung's smart TV ecosystem while keeping the Tizen OS open and competitive globally.
