I DO NOT CARE

I don’t care.

There has been a trend on the internet to hate AI. And most of the time, more often than not, the people doing it are just annoying—watermelon-flag-in-their-name, “quote-unquote” artists who are mad that their job drawing figures on DeviantArt is dead. Sometimes people try to get philosophical about it, saying the “heart” and “soul” behind a project are gone because AI was used, and that it’s not truly creative. Here is my message to these people: I don’t give a crap.

Quite frankly, I do not care. AI has made me more productive, and I don’t care about the message behind a book or TV show. I care if it is good. If it’s fun to look at. Are the lines good? That’s why I like Zoey 101 even though they had some CGI in it (Quinn’s weapons), and that’s why I did not like Saturdays—because it was boring as heck. What even was that show? I care about the quality of a show or a book. Is it fun to read? Yes or no? If yes, then I like it. I don’t care how it was made. I don’t care if they used renewable energy, solar-powered cameras with 90% recycled plastic, or if they bought 100 carbon credits to offset travel. I care about the product. That’s why in 2023 I criticized Samsung for making eco-friendly, overpriced cases. I don’t care. Is the case good or bad? That’s my outlook on life: is the content good or bad? Is the tech good or bad? Does it work? Not “what message does it spread,” “is it real,” or “does it have emotion?”

And for those who say, “Well, it’s theft”—how? Literally how? Every book, every story, every song is derivative of another song. Our own national anthem is based on an old tune that sounded horrible back then, and now it’s one of the greatest songs ever made. Adventures in Odyssey used a plot point from Kids Corner. TV shows use tropes all the time—are those supposed to be criminal now? The only thing I dislike about AI content is when it’s bad. If you can tell it’s been AI-generated and it’s surface-level and boring. If the facts are wrong. If the CGI is so blatantly awful that even on a small PIP screen it stands out. I care about the results, not the process.
