I like slop

There is a growing trend online to call great technology "slop." Sidenote but the slop is one of tge most annoying words know to man. Now yes, I will admit that artificial intelligence-generated content can be inaccurate or fake-looking at times. But most of what the annoying commenters online are calling "slop" is just good content. It's become a fun word amongst the worst people known to man: Redditors and Instagram commenters who are pushing against the pro-tech agenda. This content is genuinely fun, and the people pushing "slop" are just mad because they have nothing; they believe it is just "resistance." Under their cover, it's either faux empathy or pretending care about water.

The term exploded in 2025. Merriam-Webster even made "slop" their Word of the Year, officially defining it as the flood of low-quality AI junk clogging our feeds. The doomers scream that real human creativity is drowning in this soulless zombie sludge. But come on. That's the same tired script we've heard every time technology levels the playing field. Printing presses flooded the world with "cheap" books. Photography was going to kill painting. Computers and synthesizers were going to ruin "real" music. Every leap forward gets called soulless until it becomes the new normal. AI doesn't gatekeep anymore. Anyone can make wild art, videos, stories, or music without needing elite skills or million-dollar tools.

That's why the "resistance" crowd is so mad. They're not protecting quality. They're protecting their little club. Calling everything AI touches "slop" is the laziest possible critique. Sure, there's actual low-effort spam out there. Just like there's always been low-effort human spam (clickbait farms, reposted TikToks, infinite rage threads), and how is that wrong, as long as they are not doing anything wrong and making money?

Now to be fair, there are some feats that just can't be replicated by AI yet, despite AI trying, and it's getting harder to find some. But dismissing it all as slop ignores the gems. The absurd remixes, the nostalgic throwbacks, and the experiments that spark real joy or laughter faster and cheaper than ever before. Embrace the chaos. AI content isn't replacing human genius; it's amplifying it. The real slop is the endless parade of bitter commenters pretending their outrage is deep cultural insight. Let them whine. The rest of us are having fun.

God bless and Tech Talk To You Later!!
