Will the S21 Pass the Tech Test

Hello, This is the TheTechBoy with an S21 series review.

The Good

The good things about the S21 series include a new chip, a new camera system on the S21 Ultra, and a 120HZ "adaptive refresh rate". The new chip is the Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100 they help the phone perform faster than the Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 chip in the S20. The chips also help with computational photography and A.I. The camera system on the S21 and S21+ are the same as the S20, but the S21 Ultra features a dual zoom camera system for better zoom photos. The S21 and S21+ feature a 48-120HZ screen for better scrolling while the S21 Ultra has a 10-120HZ screen.  The S21 Ultra featured a dual zoom camera system, a 5000 mah battery, and s-pen support.

The Bad

The problem with these phones is they are not innovative they are not, really new, and in some ways, they are a regression from the S20 series. On the Samsung S20, there is 128 GB of expandable storage, 12 GB of RAM, a 6.2-inch screen, and a Snapdragon 865/Exynos 990 chip. On the Samsung S21, there is an extra storage option of 265 GB, but the storage is not expandable, the screen size is the same, and only it has 8GB of RAM---4 GB less RAM than the S20. The phones feature recording in 8K video and can zoom in to 30 times. The camera systems are basically the same as the S20's

These camera units are basically the same

On the S21+ the specs are the same as the S21 except for a screen size of 6.7 inches and a slightly larger battery capacity of 4800 mAh. This means the only new thing added to the S21 and S21+ is a new chip, and plenty was taken away from the S21 and especially the S21+. The S20 has more RAM than the S21+ and, the S20 has a micro-sd card slot.

When comparing the S21+ to the S20+ things get really bad. The S20+ has better expandable storage options of 128 GB and 512 GB than the non-expandable storage options of the S21+, 128 GB, and 256 GB. The S20+ also has more RAM and is more innovative than the S21+ because of the inclusion of a Time of Flight Camera.

Samsung gave a good reason to buy the S20 over the S20+ and vice versa. If you wanted a smaller but still capable phone you got the S20, if you wanted a larger phone with more storage and the ability to scan objects for 3d modeling in windows you bought the S20+. Samsung does not give a good reason to buy the S21+ over the S20 unless you want a bigger screen. Samsung also does not give a good reason the choose the S21 or S21+ over the S20 and especially the S20+.

Almost Good--Almost

The S21 Ultra is the real flagship phone, it features an upgrade in almost every area and could probably beat every iPhone to date. The S21 Ultra 5G has two RAM options of 12 and 16 GB and one of the fastest chips available, the Snapdragon 8888/Exynos 2100. The phone's curved screen is 6.8 inches and is compatible with the S-Pen and third-party pen options such as Wacom stylus.  The camera system looks promising and it innovates. There is a dual zoom camera of 3x and 10x for different optical zoom lengths. Samsung even made a big deal about the color black

There is one problem with this phone, this phone has a dual zoom camera system and can record in 8K, it has an S-Pen for productivity, and Samsung want you to use it for video editing. 8K videos are large, and so you will need good storage options. Samsung, instead gives you two non-expandable storage options of 128 GB or 512GB. This is unacceptable, this is the Samsung Galaxy 21 ULTRA.
An ULTRA phone should have expandable storage. It does not matter that you have "different storage options" or cloud storage. This is a productivity phone for proper users and photographers, especially because of the inclusion of the S-Pen. The people who buy this phone should not have to pay for cloud storage or for bigger storage options. This is completely unacceptable.

An Ultra Phone Means Ultra Features and Ultra Storage Choice

Conclusion

I thought about titling this article "Unfortunately Apple" or the "Samsung S20s Lite Review" because that is what these phones are. These phones are "Unfortunately Apple" because these Samsung phones have too much of an emphasis on colors and they took away a beloved feature in the micro-sd card slot.
This phone is like a Samsung S20s because it upgraded some features like the screen, and the chip, But it is called Lite because of the downgrades such as Less RAM and the lack of expandable storage. For the S21 Ultra, the phone is nice and has everything except a micro-sd card slot. These problems need to be fixed fast and in time for the Note 21 release and the S22, if these problems are fixed Samsung will have truly remarkable phones.
